Neil Clement has been defending complex and difficult civil cases since 1990. With extensive trial experience consisting of over 100 jury and non-jury trials, Neil has a proven track record of success in the defense of all kinds of claims against companies and management.

Neil handles the defense of employment discrimination cases, worker’s compensation cases, retaliatory discharge cases, co-employee cases, as well as the defense of general civil claims. His clients include United States Steel Corporation, Regions Bank, and Walter Schoel Engineering Company.

Neil received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Buckingham in England in 1984, his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Cambridge in England in 1985 and his Master of Corporate Laws (M.C.L.) degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1988. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in February 1990. Neil recently earned the LexisNexis® Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent Rating™ and is a graduate of Leadership Shelby County, Class of 2010.

Neil was born in Morecambe, England in 1961 and grew up in Stalybridge on the east side of Manchester, England. He settled in Birmingham in 1986. He and his wife, Meredith, have four children.

Austin Ash, Jr. v. U.S. Steel Mining Company LLC, Circuit Court of Jefferson County (Bessemer Division), CV 00-1265. (Secured judgment for the defendant employer following a bench trial of worker’s compensation claims for coal worker’s pneumoconiosis and hearing loss.)

Industrial Development Board of the City of Montgomery v. Regions Bank, Circuit Court of Montgomery County, CV 08-900593. (Secured judgment in favor of defendant bank on plaintiffs’ claims for compensatory and punitive damages pursuant various privisions of the Uniform Commercial Code.)

Patrick E. Kennedy, Jr. v. Regions Bank, Circuit Court of Shelby County, CV 07-900376. (Secured judgment in favor of defendant bank following bench trial on plaintiff’s claims for alleged conversion, breach of trust, and breach of contract.)

Lee Dwayne Ferguson v. U.S. Steel Mining Company, LLC, Circuit Court of Jefferson County (Bessemer Division), CV 06-6458. (Secured judgment for the employer following a bench trial of worker’s compensation claims for coal workers’ pneumoconiosis and hearing loss.)

William David Mabry v. United States Steel Corporation, Circuit Court of Jefferson County (Bessemer Division), CV 03-1110. (Secured bench verdict for the employer for only a 5% loss of earning capacity to the employee, the lowest possible monetary outcome for the case.)
