Litigation and Corporate Transactions
University of Miami School of Law (2014)
University of Montevallo (2010)
John Walter provides high quality work for his business clients by drawing from his diverse corporate law and litigation experience.
Prior to joining RichardsonClement, John practiced corporate law in Miami, Florida where he advocated for the interest of his clients through the negotiation of complex shareholder agreements, drafting commercial contracts, and serving as co-counsel in business litigation. Representing companies in both transactional matters and litigation has provided John with a broad understanding of the legal issues faced by businesses and today his practice focuses primarily on litigation.
John obtained his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law where he graduated cum laude and served as the Executive Editor of the Jessup International Moot Court Team. As a law student John gained hands on experience with early stage companies through working as a Law Fellow at the LaunchPad, which provides consulting to entrepreneurs, and through participating directly in a few ventures. To broaden his transactional law experience, John spent a summer working in the mergers and acquisitions department of a major law firm in São Paulo, Brazil.
John attended college at the University of Montevallo where he consistently ranked on the President’s and Dean’s lists and served as the Vice President of the Student Government Association and the President of the Inter-fraternity Council. In addition, he was heavily involved as a student in the political effort to increase funding for public universities and helped to organize thousands of college students to march in front of the Alabama State House in Montgomery. For his efforts John received the Advocacy in Action Award from the Higher Education Partnership in 2010, which is given each year to the student who does the most to further the cause of public universities in the State of Alabama.
After graduating college, John spent a year helping Christian ministries in San Diego and Los Angeles develop sustainable sources of funding and lived on a ranch south of Tijuana, Mexico that provides discipleship for men coming from local prisons and other difficult life circumstances. While in Mexico, John developed and presented to a local politician a plan to reduce prison recidivism through expanding employment opportunities for Mexican prisoners.
After having the opportunity to travel, work, and live in different environments, John and his wife Stephanie are grateful to have settled in Birmingham, Alabama. John and Stephanie attend the Church at Brook Hills and spend their free time enjoying the outdoors, watching movies, and hanging out with friends and family. One of John’s favorite quotes that he relies upon in his daily work is Proverbs 2:6-7, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.”
